Fall is Here! How long will it last and what to do?

The leaves are changing, pumpkin spice is in the air, and the winter itch is upon us

Fall is here! What's some fun stuff to do and where to do it

The Fall air is here! In Breckenridge that generally means warm days, cold nights, the changing of the leaves and everyone visiting Breckenridge wearing Bean Boots and longs flannels. It's actually one of my favorite times of the year, the foliage, the cooler weather, it really just brings me to a point nostalgia regarding the Maine weather I grew up in. What to do this time of year though? Breckenridge is known for its summer and winter activities but nobody really knows how great Breckenridge can be during the spring and fall!

My personal recommendations include the following: Hike, Bike, Eat, Drink, and enjoy this last bit of weather before the feet of snow and tourists surround us for yet another year.

Hiking - This time of year is probably the best hiking Summit and Breckenridge see. The leaves are changing to their fall colors, the hillsides are covered in not just green, but yellow and white as well. Why white? Because it's true that we've already had our first snowfall(though it doesn't last long) Three hikes I recommend doing are McCullogh GulchWhich is a 6.2 mile out and back trail that does see a fair amount of traffic due to its proximity to Breckenridge and the fact you can see a lake and a few beautiful waterfalls. The next is the Peak's Trail A 15 mile out and back trail that's rated as difficult, offers a lake, and is dog-friendly! The last hike I recommend is the Burro Trail which is just over 6 miles long and is an outback trail. You can, however, take this trail to the wheeler trail where you'll start to ascend and climb in altitude.

Bike - This is the whole reason this shop brought it's Boreas Pass option to the table! Boreas pass is one of the best places to see the transition of seasons and it's massive views only add to the awe. Should you want to stay in town and have a quicker trip with the added benefit of alcohol than you can hit the fat bike beer and distillery tour! See those awesome views just be able to hang a bit closer to Breckenridge and enjoy those views from the comfort of the Broken Compass or Breckenridge Distillery.  Fat Bike Beer Tour - Boreas Pass Scenic Shuttle

Eat - Drink - Trolls..?

Breckenridge's Main Street is a beautiful place to be! Pop into the cute little shops, visit the Breckenridge Tasting room, check out Carboy winery or the new pour house and get a fix of some libations! Another recommendation is to hop the Breck Trolley and take it all the way up to the Stephen C West Ice Arena. you'll know you're in the right place when you go past a big black train on the right. What's cool is that the train sitting near the Ice Arena actually use to travel the road that is now Boreas Pass when it was once a railroad used to get supplies over from Como to Breckenridge! Back to our topic of discussion though! Have you heard of a troll..that lives in the woods...the rumors are true. A troll by the name of Isak Heartstone lives in the woulds at the far end of the Ice Arena parking lot. Take the trolley and follow the signs..you never know who you might run into!
